Medix has been working on some interesting projects but as some of you know I have a soft spot for hard disk drive projects. By removing the drive motor and platters there was room to install a shutter in the center.

Espresso geeks are always trying to measure and adjust the pressure and temperature of our machines to make better shots. Like the gearhead distinction between theoretical engine horsepower and actual power to the wheels of a car, we don't always trust the boiler manometer, and want to know what the pressure is right at the portafilter (where the coffee grounds are).
