At the Infocomm08, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd demonstrated two types of business-oriented projectors that can output images on curved surfaces. The key feature of the "PT-D12000" and "PT-DZ12000" projector is that they are capable of displaying images on curved surfaces without any additional components. "The system can be more simplified compared with the existing method, which projects images on curved surfaces with the use of external equipment," the demonstrator said. The projectors have a dedicated LSI that enables to output images on curved surfaces. It creates image data in accordance with the curved surface on which images are projected. At the demonstration, Panasonic projected images on a screen with a curvature radius of 5m, however the company has not yet divulged details regarding compatible curvature radii.
Besides improved operability for curved surfaces, the new models are brighter than Panasonic's existing business-use projectors, the PT-D10000 and the PT-DW10000.
The luminance of the PT-D12000 and the PT-DZ12000 is 12,000lm while that of the PT-D10000 and the PT-DW10000 is 10,000lm. The new models use a 300W lamp instead of the 250W lamp. They can be used at exhibitions, event halls, amusement facilities, etc. you can expect them in August for around $69,000 each.
