New iPhone 2.0 Firmware has 3G On/Off Code

Developers found in the latest iPhone SDK Beta 5 finally some 3G related code.

The code is specifically a preference setting allowing users to switch off 3G.

Apple gives users with this the option to extend battery life.

The high power consumption of the 3G chipsets is seen as the reason why Apple did not release a 3G iPhone in the first place.

It looks like Apple is still not that happy with the battery life under 3G.
