Review: Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave

Review: Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave

Since years I've been a Logitech user, so when I got an opportunity to review Logitech's flagship product, the Desktop Wave, I was very happy. And though we are bit late, it was nonetheless a good experience. The Logitech Desktop Wave is a real good buy if you're looking for a comfortable keyboard. It's actually very good for people who's work involve too much typing, such as bloggers, journos, media professionals, writers etc.

I used the Desktop Wave for couple of weeks and on the whole I am very happy with this product. And no its not only the keyboard that is good, but also the mouse is very good. Both of them boast special design scheme that makes them standout in a crowd.

So what's the bottom line? Well, if you're really looking for a comfortable and cool keyboard-mouse set then go buy it.

How to get started

Getting started is very easy. Just insert the CD that comes with this set and install the drivers. Now plug-in usb mini receiver into usb stand (if you're a laptop user then insert usb receiver directly into your laptop's usb port) and insert two AA batteries into keyboard and mouse each. That's it, now you're all set for a joyride.

KEYBOARD

Review: Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave

From design point of view, the keyboard is incredible. The design of the keyboard is truly awesome. The most unique thing about its design is its subtle wave like shape. It isn't too much wavvy, but yeah you can easily feel its shape. The middle section of the keypad has been raised, giving the keyboard wave like shape. The company says it improves typing speed. What do I feel? YES!

Review: Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave

I wasn't expecting any improvement in my typing speed. I thought it might just be a publicity gimmic. But you know, now I understood how wrong I was. The keyboard's ergonomic wave like shape actually improved my typing speed. Now I type much more faster than I used to on my old Logitech keyboard.

The keyboard doesn't have too many media buttons, making it like any other normal keyboard with standard media buttons for playing music and stuff. But the keyboard does boast of couple of special keys. The F keys can be programmed to launch any application, but for that you'll have to install the accompanying Logitech software. The keys on the left side are designed for use with Windows Vista. Those keys let you zoom in and out of pictures, and supports Vista Flip 3D function. There are two buttons on the extreme right corner of the keyboard, one for starting calculator and one dedicated to turn off the machine. But what's the best thing about these keys? They are extremely quiet. They simply don't make any noise and are really smooth and sensitive. Of course it could be because the keyboard is new, but still they are good.

Another great thing about this keyboard is that it provides sufficient space to rest the palm. Also, the rubber grip on the palm-rest area does its job perfectly. Even after hours of working in not so comfy environment, it won't make your hand sweaty.

MOUSE

Of course the mouse doesn't boast any wave like shape, but it's good in design. After observing it closely you'll come to know that a great deal of work has been done on its design too. The mouse is so designed that it simply fits into your hand. Holding this mouse is actually a pleasure. Also, it uses an ambidextrous design so even lefties will feel at home while using this device.

It also includes rubber grip on left-/right-section, reducing sweating. But the front section doesn't have any rubber grip so your hand will become bit sweaty if you happen to work for hours. This is the thing Logitech should improve.

In addition to the standard left-/right-click buttons, the mouse features two other buttons that performs back/up functions.

Final thought

Generally we don't change keyboard-mouse until they stop working, but if your currently desktop set is too old and if money is not an issue then go buy Desktop Wave. It'll be a good change for you as I am sure you wouldn't have used anything like this before. And I am sure, you'll love it.

The Desktop Wave is available in all leading stores. It is also available online for $90.
