Christie is a leader in advanced visualization solutions. Recently, they helped design and build one of the worlds largest HD virtual reality CAVE systems. The CAVE is not a new technology but it as close as we can get to the sci-fi concept of a holodeck. The system uses a 750 sq. ft room and uses projectors to display 3D images on all four walls and the floor. Christie contributed 16 Mirage HD6 projectors for this project. Each HD6 provides 6000 ANSI lumens, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio. Combined the room displays over 32 million pixels of resolution. The CAVE system was installed into the US Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) center in Suffolk, Virginia. It will be used primarily to review, investigate, develop, and evaluate intelligence that armed services have gathered as well as help demonstrate new technology to enhance the USAs military. Virtual reality environments present extraordinary challenges that require new and innovative approaches to design integration that push the boundaries of visual technology, noted Zoran Veselic, vice-president, Visual Environments at Christie. Christie is proud to provide USJFCOM with the worlds best visualization system, delivering the cutting-edge tools it needs to conduct its mission.
