Opnext Begins Shipping of Red Laser Diodes for Microvision SHOW WX Projector

Opnext is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of optical modules and components. Today, the company has announced that they are proudly shipping red laser diodes to Microvision for their SHOW WX pico projector. The SHOW WX is one of the first projectors to use laser technology and requires three different colored lasers to produce the image (blue, red, and green). By combining these three lasers as they pass through the display chip, the full color image can be seen. The SHOW WX is proving to be far superior to other pico projectors that use LED light technology because the laser system provides better contrast, better colors, and the projector never needs focusing. “We are very proud that our red lasers developed for the pico projector market have been selected by Microvision, a true leader in the industry,” commented Gilles Bouchard, Opnext President and CEO. “This is a perfect example of how Opnext is driving new and exciting applications through innovation and partnership.”
