Recently, Pioneer has introduced the Elite KURO, which is the American version of the KRF-9000D. The KURO could quite possibly be one of the best home theater projectors ever made, according to claims made by Pioneer it has the “most detailed and pristine picture.” This projector was designed for the custom-install market due to the various ways home owners are taking advantage of home theater installations; it includes features for calibration and adjustment for this very purpose. The viewing modes are standard, dynamic and movie, which all benchmark accordingly. According to Russ Johnston, executive vice president of marketing and product planning, home entertainment business solutions group for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “We have built upon the success of our KURO plasma displays designed for the HD home theater consumer and are now addressing the custom HD home cinema consumer.” This projector will begin shipping in June of 2008 for around $9,000.
