Young Optics is the first OEM in Taiwan for optical components and optical engines. Recently, the company’s president Claude Hsu announced their predictions of what they think the future holds for the pico projector market. In the announcement, Hsu products that by the year 2012 their will be between 10-25 million pico projector units manufactured. This is a big leap from the 20000-30000 units that where made in 2009. “For the entire pico projector market, Young Optics estimates that shipments for 2009 will only be about 170,000-180,000 units, lower than the 350,000 units predicted by some research firms,” said Hsu.
