Asus shipped 700,000 Asus Eee Netbooks last Month

Despite the huge competition of new netbooks Asus is has shipped 700,000 Eee netbooks in September according to the Commerical Times newspaper.

The Chinese newspaper continues saying that Asus has shipped 1.7m Eee netbooks in the 3rd quarter and that level is expected to be met in the strong Holiday Sales Quarter.

The competition from Acer with Aspire One and other vendors has decreased the gross margin to an estimated 15%. Via Digitimes.

We critiqued the high pricing of the Atom based netbook generation Asus has initially put up. It is good to see that they have adjusted pricing to match the competition. The Asus Eee 901 series offers larger SSD drive options than the competition, but that is not always a purchase decision for customers.

Currently the Acer Aspire One leads the sales charts on Amazon.com.
