Lenovo has announced today it would start selling laptop computers preloaded with Novell Inc.’s version of Linux operating system, Reuters reports.
“The laptops are slated to go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year and will be sold to Lenovo’s business customers as well as to consumers,” the report says.
The Lenovo’s plans were announced at the start of LinuxWorld conference, which is held in San Francisco this week.
Novell’s Linux distribution called SUSE is available for personal computers in Enterprise Desktop and free of charge openSUSE variant.
Lenovo has uveiled the first Linux-based Lenovo ThinkPad mobile workstations last year, but these SUSE-powered notebooks were aimed only at electronics engineers and chip designers.
