Microsoft Releases Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista

Microsoft officially released today Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista operating system.

“In addition to previously released updates, SP1 will contain changes focused on addressing specific reliability, performance, and compatibility issues; supporting new types of hardware; and adding support for several emerging standards. SP1 also will continue to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista,” Microsoft says.

The Standalone version of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available for download now and can be installed on systems with English (US), French, German, Japanese, or Spanish (Traditional) language versions. The additional 31 language versions will be available starting in mid-April.

For users who have chosen the automatic update option in Windows Update, SP1 will start downloading automatically also from mid-April.
