Microsoft has silently released Windows XP SP3 and Vista SP1 versions to a small group of testers. Tagged as 5. 1. 2600. 3180 (xpsp. 070718-2058) the 350MB XP Service Pack 3 includes fixes for over 900 reported problems, some of which have already been resolved with post-Service Pack 2 hotfixes.

Yes, we all know that Microsoft is working on Vista's successor and will probably release it in 2010. But according to a latest report, the software giant has already shipped an early version of Windows 7, previously code-named Blackcomb Vienna, to key partners and will hopefully release it in the second half of 2009.

The earlier reports on Vista SP1 were right on mark as Microsoft has announced their plans to release the final version of Vista SP1 in the first quarter of 2008.
