Engineer, REC Durgapur (now NIT Durgapur) · West Bengal, India

Bulan Sarkar started ElectronicsInfoline on 18 October 2000 and still runs it. He is an engineer from REC Durgapur (now NIT Durgapur) in West Bengal, India. Every lesson, part page, calculator, checker and guide on this site carries his name, and he answers for what is on it.

Where the site came from

ElectronicsInfoline grew out of Radio Communication Laboratory (RCL), an RF lab in India that designed and built transmitters, receivers, amateur-TV gear, video links and PCB antennas, then shipped them to builders in several countries. The website started as a directory to make electronics information easier to find. The About page tells that story with the old screenshots.

What he writes here

  • Part pages: pinouts, limits and a working circuit for the parts people use most, from the maker's own datasheet.
  • Calculators that show the formula and a worked example beside the answer.
  • Will It Work? checkers for chargers, cables, ports and power banks.
  • Guides for the questions that come up at the bench, such as mixing 3.3 V and 5 V logic.
  • Lessons on the foundations: electricity, DC and AC circuits, components and the rest.

How a page gets checked

  1. Every number on a part page comes from the manufacturer's datasheet, cited with the page it is on.
  2. New schematics for part pages and lessons are simulated in ngspice; a figure that disagrees with the text is not installed.
  3. Lesson values pass an automated harness that recomputes each one; a mismatch blocks the lesson.
  4. The editorial and corrections policy explains how mistakes get fixed, and the contact page reaches him directly.

Questions

Who runs ElectronicsInfoline? Bulan Sarkar, who started it in October 2000. It is owned and edited in India.

Is AI used to write the pages? Software, including AI systems, helps with drafting and checking. A person reads and edits every page before it carries the site's name, and code recomputes the numbers.

How do I report an error? Use the report link at the foot of any page or the contact page. Confirmed errors get fixed.
